Friends of NRA Needs You for 2005...............
Friends of NRA is August 13th and the clock is ticking...If you have not called Ray yet to get your tickets on the way, you need to.....We're working hard to make this years event a bigger success and with your help it will be......I got some pretty amazing numbers from the NRA Field Rep the other day........Since we started doing this event every year since 1994 we have given over $90,000 to various youth shooting programs in the Cape Fear Area.......I don't know what you think about it but I think that is pretty darn good for a bunch of good ole boys who get together once a year for a fund raiser.....In addition to the $90,000 that came to the Cape Fear Area we also gave a bunch of money that goes to support national youth shooting and safety programs such as Eddie Eagle.......WE NEED MORE SPONSORS......you really increase you chances of winning a nice rifle or shotgun by being a sponsor.......The Sponsor gift from the committee this year is a limited edition statue of "The Rough Rider".......Go here http://www.nrafoundation.org/friends/graphics/rr_statue.jpg on the internet to see what it looks like...or go by Shooters Choice to see one on display.......Call Ray at 910-520-4822 for more details on Sponsor programs or to order tickets....Please call and order tickets as it saves us a bunch of time that we could be doing something else to make this years event an even bigger success.........Ray
JUNE NRA ACTION PISTOL MATCH (Sholar Powell): We had six shooters turn out to fire 17 guns for a hot May match. The rain went by us all afternoon, so we had a dry, but muggy shoot. Some Knucklehead had shot the plate rack with a rifle, and destroyed one of the 8 inch plates, causing delays, as this had to be repaired. Come on guys, help us out....DON’T SHOOT THE PLATE RACK WITH CENTERFIRE RIFLES...IT MAKES HOLES IN THEM!!! This range is for pistol only.....it’s your club; take care of it. We’ll shoot again the 4th Sunday in July, so come on out and burn some ammo with us. Winners at this match include:

Buccaneer Range Regulator Gazette
June 1897
Headline: Lone Ranger and Tonto Visit The Range Regulators
The Lone Ranger and Tonto walked into the Bleeding Heart Saloon and sat down to drink a beer. After a few minutes, Idaho Spud walked in and said, "Who owns the big white horse outside?" The Lone Ranger stood up, hitched his gun belt, and said, "I do... Why?" The cowboy looked at the Lone Ranger and said, "I just thought you'd like to know that your horse is about dead outside!"
The Lone Ranger and Tonto rushed outside and sure enough Silver was ready to
die from heat exhaustion. The Lone Ranger got the horse water and soon
Silver was starting to feel a little better. The Lone Ranger turned to Tonto
and said, "Tonto, I want you to run around Silver for a little while and see
if you can create enough of a breeze to give him a little relief!"
Tonto said, "Yes, Kemosabe" and took off running circles around Silver.
Not able to do anything else but wait, the Lone Ranger returned to the bar
to finish his beer. A few minutes later, Dick Holliday struts into the bar
and asks,"Who owns that big white horse outside?" The Lone Ranger stands
again, and claims, "I do, what's wrong with him this time?" Dick
Holliday looks him in the eye and says...
"Nothing, but you left your Injun runnin'."
Seems like a while since we shot a match as we missed last month due to the NRA steel pig and chicken shoot'n championship match being held at the Buccaneer Range.....so to make up for it we had a 5 stage match to get back into the swing of things....We had a good hard working posse and everything went smooth and fast. The last stage was a long fun stage that used the entire range and all the props. We started to make everybody mount ole Blue "Our new trusty steed" but since we had a few shortlegged posse members that idea was scratched....The scores for the match went like this.....
Regulators Seniors Duelist Cowgirls
Ragtime Kid Idaho Spud Cowboy Cloud Carolina Rose
Dick W. Holliday Doc Clock Pard Picket
Bullseye Mike Tom Two Feathers
Killer Karl
Derringer Dan
Marshall
Silverado
You need to be at the next match as we will breaking out our new Texas Star which arrived too late for the June Match but I've tested it and it works like a champ (when I hit them)....if you've never shot a Texas Star before, you'll be in for a treat or a disaster depending upon how you shoot it.....Just remember that we're laughing with you, not at you....Uh Huh.....We may even break out the State Farm spittoon and try spitting beans again.........
If you still want more cowboy stuff you should go to www.ragtimekid.com that's Ragtime's and Carolina Rose's website....lots of great pictures of the match.......So until next match don't forget......Take a kid shooting.....Respectfully submitted....Ned Bluntline.
