ATTENTION SHOOTERS: (Vice President)
Please do not place targets on the base supports of the target frames at the
Cowboy/Plinking berm. They are being shot to pieces and will not be in a
state of constant repair as it is very expensive and time consuming. Its
more fun to shoot than making repairs which could have been avoided. If
you are going to shoot the bottles, snakes etc shoot them on the ground in front
of the berm and please put them back when you are done.
TRAINING: (Harold Lange)
The Training group is planning to offer a NRA. Basic Pistol Course, at the gun
club, on Thursday June 6 and Saturday June 8. The Thursday session will start
promptly at 6:00 P.M. and last to around 10:00 P.M. The Saturday session
will start promptly at 8: 00 A.M. and last until finished which should be around
4;00 P.M. Anyone interested in obtaining a Concealed Carry Permit
must attend this course first. Depending on the length of the Pistol
course a Concealed Carry course may be offered at the end of the Pistol course
or another date will be picked. If there are any questions please call
Harold Lange (791-6232), Tom Repik (686-2526) or Tom McGonigal (392-7156).
BUCCANEER BULK LEAD BULLET ORDER: (Ray Campbell)
We're putting together a bulk purchase of Valiant Bullets---we are going to
order at least 120,000 bullets to get the prices that I'm showing here per
thousand and to get them delivered to Wilmington--these are not the only bullets
available but I'm showing these just so you'll know how good a deal they are:
45ACP 230 gr Round nose - $26.00 per thousand
45ACP 200 gr SWA - $24.00 per thousand
45 Long colt RNFP 250 gr - $28.00 per thousand
45 Long Colt RNFP 200 gr - $24.00 per thousand
38/357 all styles WC,SWC,RN - $20.00 per thousand
9mm 125 gr RN - $17.00 per thousand
Call Ray Campbell at 520-4822 or 686-7339 for other bullets available and to
place your order. Payment in advance will be required for this since we have to
send a check with the order. If you've ever bought any off the shelf cast
bullets you'll know that these prices in some cases are less than half what
you'd pay for them. Minimum order of a style is 1000 bullets except for the
45-70's which are 500 bullets.......If I were you I'd buy these like Hillary was
going to declare them illegal tomorrow.....This looks to be quite an undertaking
on our part and it may be a while before we do it again so get what you can
now.....
START OF UNAPPROVED MINUTES for 3/11/02 Meeting
The meeting was called to order at the Sweetwater Café by President Bradler at
7:00 P.M.
The minutes of the February 11, 2002 meeting, as appearing in the newsletter,
were approved.
COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Skeet David Merrill
advised they had 15 shooters on a nice sunny day with some wind. Four
father's brought their teenage sons and a teenage guest plus they had a visitor
from Camp LeJeune.
Fred Welfare advised he needs referees for the March Winds Open on March 16th
and 17th. So far 22 or 23 individuals have signed up to shoot 80 guns in
this 4 gun shoot. Discussion.
Cowboy They had 9 shooter and it rained some but they had a good time.
Action Pistol First match is the 4th Sunday in April.
Big Bore Had our first regular match on March 16.th The next match,
on Saturday, starts at 10:00 A.M.
.22 Field Pistol Tom Mix advised that the rim fire shoot starts at 10:00 A.M. on
March 23rd and Louis Stanley will run the match.
Training Nothing is scheduled but possibly in May or June there will be
something. Discussion.
NEW BUSINESS:
Harold Lange Training
needs a VCR and TV to conduct courses. Donations of a VCR, a TV or a
combination TV/VCR will be accepted. Contact President Mark if you want to
donated. We also need a First Aid Kit. Discussion. Vice
President Tom McGonigal will pick up an industrial First Aid Kit and it will be
at the club for this week-ends shooting. Tom advised a new microwave is
already at the clubhouse.
President We will meet at the Sweetwater Café in April and at the clubhouse in
May.
David wondered if anyone else is having a problem getting their NRA Membership
Card. He paid his money but never received his card. Discussion
President It looks like members need to lock the gate behind them after entering
the club's property. Discussion.
Secretary Maybe we should buy an engrave so our equipment can be marked.
Discussion.
Vice President - We need a shelter, similar to the skeet field shelter, between
the Cowboy and Action Pistol ranges. Discussion. A prefab car port
might work and Vice President McGongial will check it out. The Secretary
will check the old minutes to see if the cost for the skeet field shelter was
mentioned.
President Hiram Tucker has made a proposal for an archery range which is
available for review by members. This will be referred to the Long Range
Planning Committee.
Vice President noted the cost of the new keys plus mailing cost approximately
$860.00. Bill Murrell noted clay targets had been purchased.
OLD BUSINESS:
The Constitution and By -
Laws need to be looked at in connection with the Membership Committee so a
meeting like last month is not repeated. An Ad Hoc Committee will be
established to do this and it will consist of the Executive Committee, previous
Presidents and 3 club members at large. Discussion.
The lights to let you know someone is down range are up and the bill is paid.
There is no sound warning yet however something will be found.
The New Member Orientation went well.
Everyone should wear their name tags at the club as we have 43 new probationary
members.
ATTENDANCE: 25
ADJOURNMENT: Meeting was adjourned at 8:00 P.M.
END OF UNAPPROVED MINUTES for 3/11/02 Meeting.
COWBOY ACTION MATCH: (Ray Campbell)
Regulator Gazette
Headline: Kate "Big
Nose Kate" Holliday Cleans Up Bawdy House
Kate Holliday
alias "Big Nose Kate" had a hunch that her husband the infamous
"Dick Holliday" was spending the evening at Lucious Louise's Bawdy
House. To investigate the rumor Kate packed her 2 sidearms and her shotgun. When
she reached the house she peeked through the broken down swinging doors to see
if she saw Dick. She figured Dick must be upstairs so in order to clear the
downstairs she loaded her trusty double barrel then stuck it through the holes
in the swinging doors and blasted two bottles off the bar. She entered the bar
and after flipping over a gaming table yelled "Has anybody seen my
husband?". Fearing for their lives, everyone went for their guns and after
ten shots from Kates 44s-all was quiet downstairs. Kate then ran upstairs and
started kicking in doors looking for Dick. Seeing a hump in the sheets in the
first room, she snatched back the covers and found Dick and Lucious Louise
cowering there. Dick was wearing nothing but his boots and an ankle holster.
Louise jumped out the nearest window leaving Dick to fend for himself. Dick
explained that he had been deputized by Marshall Earp and was doing some
"Under the cover work". Kate wasn't having any of that explanation and
was last seen dragging Dick down the stairs.
Headline: Cowboys Do It In
The Rain
The February match
was held in some less than perfect conditions but we still managed to have about
9 cowboys in the posse. The weatherman Chief A. J. Parlatore (An Indian of
Italian decent) said he didn't think it ever quit raining during the entire
match except for the time it was sleeting. It never rained hard enough to halt
the match-but hard enough to make you appreciate the new duster you got for
Christmas. We got in five stages which included everything from shooting to
tomahawk throwing to dynamite chuck'n and almost forgot Spittoon Spitt'n (I
guess that's how you spell it). These are not the full results because we think
the score sheet dissolved in the rain but here's what I remember...
Results--First Flight--Dick Holliday: Second Flight--Lonesome Larry
Seniors--Roberdale
All members of the posse were
awarded American Flag pins just for showing up and the Winners were awarded
cowboy handkerchiefs from Wallyworld (The Damn things were made in China). I
think I need to have a talk with the prize committee (Idaho Spud).
The next posse will form up on Saturday March 16th at 9:00am so come if you can.
Maybe the weather will be better. We are still looking for a few good Cowgirls
to shoot with us as well as junior shooters. As always we are helping with
equipment issues with new shooters--so if you don't think you don't have
everything you need to play this game--just show up with what you've got and
we'll help with the rest. So as always I depart with "Take a kid
shoot'n." Respectfully submitted--Louis LaManure
